Storm over The Cross, Eastry, Kent.Watercolour on Arches 140 lbs CP paper. Image size 10¼" (26 cm) by 14¼" (36 cm) © 2001.This picture was painted from reference photographs taken during a visit to Eastry, Kent in 1991, or thereabouts. The door to the house at the left is the entrance to Number 2, The Cross. The storm is an artistic creation but not too far removed from the conditions prevailing at the time of the visit. The church appearing in the far distance is historically significant, as are many other features of this small, quiet Kentish town, which preserves a Neolithic Bronze-age cemetery. The present inhabitants seem to have a penchant for white painted walls and black trim for their buildings. Picture status - In a private collection.
