Winter on the Credit River at HuttonvilleWatercolour on Waterford 200 lbs. CP paper. Image 20½" (52 cm) by 28½" (72½ cm) © 2004.There is something very gratifying about painting old, mature trees in a realistic style. The location of the scene here, where trees abound, is the same as in the picture "Autumn on the Credit River in Huttonville", but obviously in a different season. Having completed the autumn version, the challenge to render the same scene in a different mood was irresistible. The models for the figures in the foreground were family members, evidently enjoying a romp through newly fallen snow. They are shown watching a squirrel, who has emerged temporarily from hibernation to greet the visitors and to scrounge for any offerings that they may have brought. Picture status - Collection of the artist.
