Meeting at the ChurchFisherville Church - Black Creek Pioneer VillageWatercolour. Image size 12" (30.5 cm) by 16" (40.6 cm) © 1994.This is another picture that was painted principally for a Christmas card. It represents the same scene as a pen and ink drawing in the "Drawings" section, but from a slightly different viewpoint. Needless to say, it portrays an imaginary meeting of families on a winter Sunday in earlier times. The early morning sun casts a warm, pinkish glow on the snow and the turreted clouds behind the church. The setting is the building's present location at Black Creek Pioneer Village. The heating system in the old church is essentially the same today as it was when the building was constructed. The chimney on the roof connects to a small furnace, which distributes warm air through a primitive array of ducting. In its present form, in addition to presenting an example of earlier architecture, the Fisherville Church is a popular location for weddings and other suitable religious functions. The pioneer ambience of The Village provides a comfortable background environment for such events. Picture status - In a private collection.
